Penang Night

There are many things to do in Penang at night. You can partying in Penang, having a drinks with new found friends at Garage, Upper Penang Road, or visit the night market(Pasar Malam); or continue your street food at night. The more adventurous one will hike up Penang Hill, Balik Pulau / Air Itam Dam, or take a sea tour round island at night, or round the island by car at night. How about walking round the island at night?. A more romantic one will have dinner at Penang Hill at the colonial building looking at the nigh view of the island and the sea; dinner at seaside beach, E&O Hotel . If you want a more heritage night trip, a ferry trip to Butterworth at night.....or a trishaw trip at night around George Town. If you want to have more distant trip, cross the island to the Highway Auto City.If your want to mix with the fellow backpackers, there is Chulia Street, Love Lane, Leith Street and Penang Road.

Batu Ferringhi, Gurney Drive, or to Tanjung City Marina to have a panoramic view of the ferry, private boats, yachts... and the night view of the Penang Channel. For the die hard Malaysian, there are Mamak stalls and coffee shops at night. The old Esplanade, for those who are still dreaming of throwing orange into the sea, looking at the sea and waiting for the mermaid to come .......

How about a night tour of cemetery?

The common past time at night for Penang people in the old days, is sitting at the street bench, in the coffee shop, mamak stalls; watching people pass by.......but the heritage life style is now missing........they prefer to watch TV, play computer games, play macheong. Some locals are still working late at night at the Bayan Lepas factory..........

What a night in Penang.......

The following photos were taken at night, it is only a part of Penang night life, sorry for the poor quality of picture taken.
