Lenggong is also one of the area of Hulu Perak district,which consist of 3 daerah kecil of Gerik, Pengkalan Hulu, and Lenggong. Lenggong is further divided into 3 Mukim, that is Lenggong(13,527 with 9 kampong) , Temelong(3712 people with 5 kampong), and Durian Pipit(4922 people with 5 kampong).
The Lenggong valley in Ulu Perak is one of Peninsular Malaysia's most important areas for archaeology, as excavations have revealed many traces of Malaysia's prehistory. It is the site of the oldest known place of human activity in the Peninsula. Today it is still a rural area, with small kampungs surrounded by green vegetation and limestone hills. Lenggong can be likened to an open-air museum, and is home to legends, skeletons, cave drawings and precious finds such as jewelery, pottery, weapons and stone tools. Many of the caves in the Lenggong area have revealed evidence of ancient humans having lived and hunted in this area.
I did not tour the area, merely have a short visit at Lenggong town, Tasik Raban is a beautiful lake which I have seen while using the old road. The information on the tourist attraction is posted here for the readers in case you want to visit the place.
Tasik Raban(拉班湖)
Tasik Raban is a popular natural lake in Perak consisting several connected water bodies surrounded by pristine greenery. This scenic area is an angler's paradise and it also supports a small freshwater fish farming industry. Visitors can buy freshwater Tilapia fish straight from cages placed in the lake that provides livelihood to the local folks.
You can see lone fishermen in small boats with their nets besides fish cages where the fishes are being bred. You also can see a flock of white birds resting on tree tops and they would occasionally fly in formation

While traveling from Kuala Kangsar to Lenggong, you would have crossed the Raja Muda Nazrin Bridge over Tasik Raban, a scenic lake. After crossing the bridge, make a detour to the old road with a short, narrow stretch flanked by the lake on both sides. It feels absolutely surreal to pass through that stretch as the road seems to float precariously above the lake. You can proceed to Lenggong via that old road or head back to the highway to continue the journey to Grik . You can make a stop at R&R for an overview of the lake or have sumptuous grilled fish at the famous Restoran Ikan Bakar Tasik Raban along the highway.
Lata Kekabu (Kekabu Waterfalls)
Kekabu Waterfalls is Located 2km after Tasik Raban in Lenggong.Located in the district of Lenggong, this waterfall is surrounded by a forest reserve abundant with a diverse range of tropical trees, about 3km from the banks of the Chenderoh Lake, which is another scenic area also with recreational facilities.
There is also a multi-purpose hall nearby which is used for meetings and receiving visitors. A camping site is also set-aside exclusively for those who wish to commune with nature and a desire for a different mode of accommodation.

Kota Tampan Archaeological Museum(古打淡板考古场所)
Visit Lenggong Archaeological museum(玲瓏考古博物馆) where the remains of the Perak Man (a Stone Age man aged 10,000 to 11,000 years old) is displayed at Kota Tampan(哥打淡板). Find the time to explore this site that has preserved the finds of the Palaeolithic era. Kota Tampan can be reached by route 76, when you reach Kampong Baru Kota Tampan(哥打淡板新村,where the former President of MCA and Minister of Housing Dato Sri Ong Ka Ting come from). Turn right to the Lenggong Archaeological museum(玲瓏考古博物馆), that is why it is also called Kota Tampan Archaeological Museum(古打淡板考古场所). It is 3 km east of Lenggong town. The museum is opened daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ; Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12.15 p.m., 2.45 p.m. - 5 p.m., however it is closed on Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha.The Lenggong Archaeological Museum is located 2km after Tasik Raban in Lenggong.
Lenggong is accessible by trunk roads connecting it with neighboring towns and cities. The town of Lenggong is situated some 100 kilometres north of Ipoh, on the Kuala Kangsar to Grik road. The road to Lenggong is surrounded mostly by oil palm estates and jungles. As cows and buffalo are part of the agriculture, they are often seen along the road. The jungles (about million years old) are now in danger of heavy illegal logging.
To visit Lenggong , from the North-South Highway take Exit No.143 at Kuala Kangsar – that’s about 3 hours away from Kuala Lumpur. Then take Route 76 (Jalan Baling-Kuala Kangsar, 江沙／宜力大道)to Lenggong. The new highway is open and has replaced the old scenic kampung road where you can see Tasik Raban and the bridge.
