God has given us the day, we can use it as we like. We can waste it, or grow in its light and be of service to others. But what we do on the day is important, as we have exchanged a day of our life for it. When tomorrow come, today will be gone. I hope I will not regret for the price I paid for the day. Life is beautiful, together let us make each of our life, and other people's life more beautiful...

Airports of heritage cities
The new Batu Berendam International Airport, Malacca.
(crdited to Sin Chew Daily 5-5-2009)
The Malacca airport has been upgraded to international airport , and will be known as Batu Berendam International Airport. Sin Chew Daily reported on 5-5-2009 that the international airport upgrade work has been completed and now in operation. Bernama reported on 10-3-2009, work to extend the runway of Melaka International airport in Batu Berendam is expected to complete by September 2009. Federal government has provided a loan of RM65 Million for the said extension. The runway will be extended by 400 metres from the current 1,800 metres.
The Airport and particularly its control tower bears historical significance as it was the very same tower which guided the plane of Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, to land from London on 20 February 1956. It was in Malacca that Tunku announced the date for the independence of then Malaya from the United Kingdom. Considering the historical nature of this control tower, the Chief Minister of Malacca, Mohd Ali Rustam is attempting to save the tower, by either relocating it, or by changing plans to incorporate the tower.(source:www.wikipedia.org). As a heritage city it is important that the tower is to be saved at all cost.
The Malacca and Penang were jointly declared as Heritage City. The upgrade of Malacca airport is necessary to facilitate the promotion of the Malacca city to the world. But what happen to Penang airport? When my family returned from Bangkok last year,my teenager daughter make a comment on the Penang airport, it is worst than Chiangmai airport.

Penang International Airport was an old airport at Bayan Lepas, 10 miles from Georgetown. The Chief Minister of Penang, YB Lim Guan Eng (who was former MP for Malacca city, and now the Chief Minister of opposition ruled state of Penang) has called for the upgrade of Penang International Airport terminal to higher standard. In the mini-budget announced by the Minister of Finance(now Prime minister)on 10-3-2009 RM250M has been allotted for the expansion of the airport.
Hope that the airport will be upgraded as soon as possible. All Penang people will be happy.
The upgrade of both airports will be good for the tourism of the country.
Penang airport, not much improvement in the airport, even BN was in power for >20+ years, hopeless lah, "Penang dianak-tirikan" is well known. I do not understand why "they" want to destroy the golden egg?
